Bangladesh vs India 2015, 2nd ODI Preview

The Dhaka mania continues as Bangladesh and India go head-to-head in the capital for the second ODI of the 3-match series on the longest day of the year, 21st June. The home team’s prolific run-getter in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Mahmudullah’s absence from this ODI series is a massive setback for them as it makes their batting line-up more vulnerable to a bowling attack which is on the surge off late. Yet, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib al Hasan can give MS Dhoni headaches with their aggressive style of batting and their ability to build long yet quick-fire partnerships. Plus, Shakib’s IPL experience is key as his knowledge of the Indians would be invaluable to his team.

Bangladesh’s ability to cause at least one upset win at home against the former World Champions can inspire them to reach new heights. However, India have a threatening batting line-up of their own, with Virat Kohli at the forefront. Kohli’s form has surged since the IPL and if India is given any total to chase, he is the master of succeeding at it. And his verbal duel with Bangladeshi pacer Rubel Hossain in the World Cup quarterfinal would pump him up all the more.

India’s squad structure might make Dhoni experiment, keeping in mind the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. While Bangladesh are likely to stick with their same XI which has given them ODI success off late. However, rain is likely to play spoilsport again on Sunday afternoon which could prompt either MS Dhoni or Mashrafe Mortaza to bowl first after winning the toss.

Squads:
India: MS Dhoni (C & WK), Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Stuart Binny, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohit Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohit Sharma, Umesh Yadav

Bangladesh: Mashrafe Mortaza (C), Mushfiqur Rahim (WK), Litton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Arafar Sunny, Mominul Haque, Nasir Hossain, Rony Talukdar, Rubel Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman
