While Mexico would normally be more or less a match for Chile, Miguel Herrera's side are far from full strength. The likes of Javier Hernandez and Carlos Vela, who would be among the biggest threats to Chile, are not present at the Copa America, as they are being saved for Mexico's campaign in the CONCACAF Gold Cup next month. ESPN's Tom Marshall was less than impressed with Mexico's efforts against "South America's worst team" in their opening game. Further, key defender Rafael Marquez limped out of the draw with Bolivia and so could be a doubt for the clash with Chile.According to the Associated Press, via the Guardian, Herrera said: "We have to wait for the doctor’s result, but he felt something in his left leg. I didn’t want to risk it so I took him out." This puts Mexico firmly on the back foot against Chile before the match even begins. Chile, meanwhile, are shaping up to be genuine contenders in their home tournament. La Roja have never won the Copa America before, but as BT Sport's Max Bentley notes, they have a lot of factors in their favour at the moment. Chief among these is star man Alexis Sanchez. The 26-year-old comes into the tournament on the back of an incredible debut season with Arsenal, where he scored 24 goals and made 11 assists in all competitions. The forward is also fourth on Chile's all-time goalscoring list and needs just three to move ahead of Carlos Caszely in third. Sanchez looked as lively as ever in Chile's last game, assisting Eduardo Vargas and lighting up proceedings with his incredible dribbling skills.
